If you read this, if your eyes are passing over this right now, even if we don't speak often, please post a comment with a memory of you and me. It can be anything you want -- good or bad. When you're finished, post this little paragraph on your blog and be surprised (or mortified) about what people remember about you.

12:19 am - From Starwood to Now: A Short update
Well, about what's been going on... I'll try to keep it as short an explanation as possible, but I think that's impossible.

We left for Ireland after Starwood. Not thinking much of it, all throughout Sirius and Starwood we had been listening to our third person in our three-person trip to Ireland, speaking about if people left her she would still travel on her own. Well, when we arrived in Ireland, she exploded at druid_medb for booking a room for her at a hostel. We all decided to just stay the night and calm down. The next morning she said that she would be going around Ireland by herself. Thus leaving us in a bind because we now had to pay for the car rental, and camping by ourselves. druid_medb and I did a quick figure, and decided to let her go as we thought we could make it by ourselves. The Third person agreed to meet us in roughly one week and we parted ways.
druid_medb and I spent the next week driving around the Burrens, and there are too many short adventures to talk about here, but I will be putting them up on my livejournal someday for all to read.

Ok ok, I know I said i would keep it short, I will try to from here on out...(ya right ;P)

At the end of that week, we met up with The Third person, she informed us that she had enjoyed her week traveling across Ireland and staying in Hostels, but something had come up at home and she was now flying back two weeks early. I fully believe that she just ran out of money.

We spent the next week enjoying our time in the Midwest section of Ireland. And at the beginning of our last week, we met two great people that we ended up driving around the ring of Kerry with and just all around having a blast hanging out with.

Ok that's the Short version of Ireland (hey three paragraphs for three weeks I think is short.)

We arrived back in California and were picked up by her parents. We stayed with them two weeks before the arguments became bad enough that we up and left on Labor Day Night. As it was too late to get something cheep, we stayed in our car that first night, and then found a cheep motel that would accept us and our dog (Tigger our cat passed away before we left for Ireland, and druid_medb's mother didn't want to tell us during Starwood, but thought we needed to know before we left for Ireland.)

After roughly three weeks in the motel, we made friends with a VW club, and one of the guys in the club helped us find a place to move into. We moved in as soon as we possibly could.
After that it' becomes quiet for a while. School, Studying, Work. Oh ya work, I was hired roughly two days after we moved into our new place, and was let go roughly two months later. It wasn't till they let me go that they told me it was a temp position only. That was the Monday after Halloween. I've been out of work since then. I've put in tons of apps, and finally I was called for an interview, then they called me for a second interview, but I was in LA, so we had to do a Phone Interview. After that I was offered the job. And accepted it of course. So now I start in Jan. I understand it is a 6-month temp position, but they might make it permanent if I work out well enough.

As I said this is a quick update. If I had actually written everything that happened then it would be 10 to 15 times as long as this.

p.s. Man I need to update my userpics. Guess that will be the next thing I do.

10:28 pm - The finished product.
Ok folks, here it is. It had to be 500 words/3500 characters or less not counting the spaces. It is 497 words, and 2,202 characters. I think I did a good job on this.

After high school, I went directly to college; this was the most difficult time in my life. Prior to attending the university, I lived with, traveled with, and even attended school with my parents. My mother was the seventh and eighth grade English and history teacher, and my father was the high school Vice Principal. The summer before I left for college, my parents told me they were retiring and taking positions at another school, in Vietnam. Because of this, they had to leave a month before I did. I thought it would be a blast to be on my own and nothing would change.
Once at college, I learned that I was mistaken. My parents weren’t there to tell me when to eat, when to do my homework, and when it was time to sleep. I was enjoying my life, but my grades were slipping, and it took nearly failing, to shock me out of the slump and another year and a half to learn how to study and organize my life. I decided to take a semester off and see what the real world was like. What I learned during that time opened my eyes to the reality of life without a college degree.
I returned to college and renewed my efforts. It was difficult but I managed to succeed a little more then three years later.
After obtaining my Bachelors degree, I started looking for a higher level job within my field. I had worked in a computer lab and as help desk for an internet service provider, and wanted to expand my knowledge. However, all the jobs I applied to were looking for both experience and a degree. I decided to use my help desk experience and start out there, working my way up to an Administrator position later. After finding a job as a Help Desk Technician, I still continued to apply for Network and Systems Administrator positions, and went on interviews on my days off. Three months after accepting the Help desk position, I was interviewed and received an offer to be a Network Administrator for Cochise County.
My career with Cochise County has given me many interesting training opportunities and I find that learning about new technology excites me. I feel the need to return to school and learn about these technologies. This, I believe will make me a better Network/Systems Administrator.
If I could look back on my life and be able to say, "I helped advance human knowledge in technology," I would have obtained a life goal. I've always wanted to leave a lasting mark in the world and know that my contribution to humanity has made life better for others. To do this I will need to have my Masters and most likely my PhD in the computer field. I hope one day to teach at the collegiate level and influence the young minds of the next generation; maybe that is how I will leave my mark.

10:20 pm - More Cuts
Ok, more cuts. I am adding all of the large cuts. The minor ones, a sentence cut here and there, a few words, etc. I am leaving out.

These cuts are from all throughout the essay, so they might not flow very well together.

My parents were smart, most summers we left our home town as a family and ventured out into the world. We saw art of all styles and crafts from different countries. We explored high mountains and flat desert They introduced me to so many different cultures and concepts that I couldn't help but be awakened to all the worlds possibilities. We traveled to over 25 different countries. Due to everything I saw and witnessed in the world, I now look at a much broader picture, than if I had stayed at home and hung out with friends like a lot of my classmates did during the summers. I would love to say that one particular piece of art or one specific culture has influenced me greatly, but the truth is it all did. The most influential thing in my life which I consider art is the world itself, as well as the people and places that remain in my memories. These things have influenced me to become more than what I would have been and to strive to be more than I am even today.

I now know the harsh realities with my own eyes, and have learned a very hard lesson. I know the value of school and what a degree truly stands for. It isn't just some piece of paper that says that you've done your time, it's an accomplishment to be very proud of and it states that you have worked extremely hard and are willing to put the same effort into the company that hires you, or the next college that accepts you for the next level of degree.

As I only had the degree, I was turned down constantly. I kept at it, though I did need to pay rent and put food on the table. So when I was not searching for a job, I worked as an Assistant Manager for first Eckerd’s, and then when they were bought out, for CVS. A year and a half passed with no avail, "I am sorry someone with more experience has accepted the position," was a common phrase I heard. Each time I would ask what I could have done better in the interview, each time I received roughly the same response, "Your interview was fine, they just had more experience." I stared to put in for Help desk positions. I realized that a year and a half was a long time to be out of the field.

Perseverance was the thing that made me successful. At times I wanted to just forget about it, but my bull-headedness kept me at it, and I finally have a Job that I know I'm good at.

CSU Chico is set between Silicon Valley to the south, and the growing industry of Seattle and Oregon. In the next few years, many more people will look to see what's near those two places. Chico, being between them, will have the best opportunity to draw the new and innovative minds to its programs and I want to be a part of that.

Next post will be the finished essay.

9:24 pm - And the cuts begin.
Well, as a few of you know, I am applying for Grad school at CSU Chico. As is part of the application, I need to do a Statement of Purpose. This statement needs to be between 500 and 3500 characters long, not counting the spaces. Mine at the moment is standing around 7000. So I have to cut a Lot out. Mainly the entire starting paragraph is being cut. As I do not have a limit here, I am posting it in its entirety.

Enjoy,

Or not, it's up to you.

The first book that I picked up and really enjoyed was Anne McCaffery's "DragonSong." I had just entered seventh grade, and my father told me, in no uncertain terms, that I would be entering The Battle of the Books. This was a club where the kids read from a set book list, then were tested in a reading comprehension and retention competition against other schools. I was angry and frustrated because, at the time, I was more interested in TV and hanging out with my friends, then in books, and I thought reading was a waist of time. Since it was my father, whom I had looked up to for longer then I could remember, telling me, I entered the high school library to see what books I had to read. I walked over to the shelf that held all of the listed books, and began reading the titles. A few looked somewhat interesting at that time to me, but none really caught my eye. So, I closed my eyes and let my hand fall. I grasped the first one my hand touched and opened it; the title read, "Dragonsong." I found a small corner in the very back of the library, where no one would see me, as I did not want to be disturbed, nor have my friends make fun of me, and began to read. I must admit, I didn't enjoy the beginning, but because I had been ordered to read it, I checked the book out and took it home. Lying in bed later that night, I began to read again. I still was not happy, but by the time the heroine had left her home town, roughly half way through the book, I was so enthralled, that I didn't sleep that night. The next morning, my mother knocked on my bedroom door to wake me, as was normal, and what she heard surprised her. "Just one more chapter mom, then I'll go to sleep." Ever since I have been reading anything that even looks the slightest bit interesting. It was the beginning of my love for reading; I feel now, that it was one of the biggest contributors to who I am today and it was all thanks to my father.

Damn I really liked that part. Oh well, now it's down to 5800 roughlly. I'll probably post more later. If anything I'll post the finished product later.

9:17 am - Apartment:
Well now that I have THAT out of my system. ;) :P

I'm going to be moving into a new apartment soon. i.e. middle of next month. I still have to let my landlords know that I will be leaving in 30 days, yes AZ law states that I Have to give a 30 day notice, but they shouldn't say anything. Seeing as I just finished my 6 month contract, I just have to pay for the one extra month and they should be happy.
The apartment that I will be moving into in a month will save me SO much. i.e. just over $150 each month. *Jumps for joy*
I will actually be able to save up for "Walking with Fire" that druid_medb and I will be going to in November; well, hopefully.
I will also be going to Vegas in September, and Phoenix for a four day weekend just before All Hallows Eve. For both Vegas and Phoenix I will be there from Thursday through Sunday. I've heard from druid_medb that she normally puts on a All-Hallows-Eve party on the day itself. Since that will be on a Monday, I should be able to make that as well.
Ahhh Traveling, I am completely and utterly Addicted to it. :D

Yes as you can see I'm in a much better mood now. Surprising how just writing down your thoughts helps.

8:44 am - Just some thoughts.
WARNING this is Very Sappy, if you don't want to read sad and longing DON'T read any further.

Well, It's been a few days now. Not since I last wrote, that's been quite a while, but since druid_medb left for NY. Ya, I know it sounds sappy, but I do miss her a lot. The odd thing about it is we've talked everyday, but it just isn't the same. I miss the way we can just talk and not care about the time. I miss holding her in my arms and not caring about anything else, just living for the moment. I miss her smile, and her humor. I miss the way she looks at me, both when she is sad needing comfort, and when she's confident and predatory.
Damn I didn't think I'd be feeling this way when I first met her. I saw she was in pain, and wanted to help. That I would say was the first thing that brought my attention to her. After that, we talked and laughed, and yes flirted like there was no tomorrow. Where are we now? I'm still not 100% sure. We hang out at each others places on a constant basis, talk with each other regularly. We've even gone out on Non-dates(see druid_medb's First Date post) as well as Actual Dates. Is she my Girlfriend, I'd say yes. So would she if asked. Do we care for each other? Damn strait! Is she still in pain? yes. Am I the cause? no. What will happen when she finally has space between her and the cause? That I don't know...
Sadness.... some.
Longing.... Definitely!
I miss you Love.
